Pick Just One

I've never been a person who can start a project and stick with it until it is finished.  I wish I had that kind of focus.  Truth is I get bored or frustrated or lose the concentration necessary for projects.  That's why I always have several going at once.  Like this:
These are the cut out pieces for the muslin that's the first step needed for a couture sewing class I'm taking.  After the muslin (prototype) is done I'll make the real thing out of this fabric:
But I've been sidetracked by a knitting pattern that I have yet to start because I have no idea how my hands are going to react.  But I did dye the yarn.
I'll save the wreath with paper flowers for another day since you are sufficiently overloaded and now can't sleep because of all the excitement.  I know!  Your mind.  BLOWN.

Fail?

I made a ribbon bracelet.  I am torn.  Is it cool or am I too close to the project to see it is extremely ugly and is an epic fail?

You won't hurt my feelings.  I'll just talk behind your anonymity for a while.

Also it's hard taking pics of a complicated bracelet worn by your person.  I need a hand model.  Or hand mannequin, which is creepy.  Of course it would be fun to use and freak out guests.  Yeah, really, really creepy.

Creative Overload

I have made stuff!!!  I haven't posted it.  Why?  I am too lazy to get the camera out of its bag.  I'm serious, that's the truth.  No, that's not the reason!  I just thought of the excuse reason for silence again.  I am completely off the Eefexor.  The past week and a half I dropped to 0 mg and have been getting used to being Eefexor free.  YES!  Done with the addictive antidepressant.  You have no idea how happy I am about it.  So fear not.  I've done did thangs and will post pictures as soon as I get my fatigued self to get the camera.

Also I seem to have a fixation with fuschia which is strange since I don't wear a lot of bright colors.  The Chic Abode is overwhelmed with colour.  (See what I did there??  Alternate forms of spelling make me feel so sophistimicated) but I don't wear a lot of brightness.  Interesting self-analysis going on at 5:45 a.m. here.  Anyway I'll post a picture of my fuschia obsession.  Yes I will.  Hey, don't call me that!

Yeah, I Made That

I didn't make it to the party, but the gift did!  Yay!  And here's the birthday girl modeling the finished project.

Love it!  I had no idea that places only sell foam swords now.  I guess they were a hit.  The tunic looks a little big but that's good.  Hopefully she will get a lot of use out of it.

I signed up for my first sewing class.  This one is Couture Sewing.  I'm so glad it's an online class.  I have it forever so my distracted mind can come and go as I please.  So that is next.  Yay!  Well, except I need to finish up a couple things first.  Somehow I don't see that happening.  But Victoria will be returning.  Couture people, hello!  We're not talking party girl Vicki for this one.

One final note.  As you can see I blurred out birthday girl's face.  That is to protect her identity as well as discourage pervs.  GO AWAY PERVS!

Sparkledust*

The creativity is back and the inspiration is a little girl who is turning six.  This particular little girl has a great imagination and many interests, including gladiators.

She watches the show Spartacus with her parents and, one day, her dad went outside and found her beating up a post with two plastic wiffle ball bats.  He asked her, "Hey, what are you doing?"
"Fighting Crixsus," she answered.
"Oh, okay." replied her father and continued walking.

That was awesome.  I love that story and can picture her wailing away at that post.  So for her birthday I decided to make her her very own Spartacus outfit.  Except with modification because dudes, she's a kid.  I will not have her running around in some crazy diaper type thing.

I browsed around for a historical pattern or some kind of pattern, costume, etc. that is available for sale.  Nothing.  So I knew the moment had come.  I had to design something myself.  Now, this is a goal of mine and yes I've designed home items, but never really an article of clothing.  I asked her dad what size clothes she currently wears, looked up the measurements, then designed a simple tunic pattern.  Here's the end result of the tunic.

Now I have to make the belt and some upper body armor.  And Charlie must buy swords.  Then she will be ready to kick gladiator butt.  However just to be on the safe side there is a Hello Kitty gift as back up.

*I refer to Spartacus as Sparkledust because there was an episode where he was painted completely gold and sparkly.
