When It Rains Happy, It Pours Happy

We're a happy household here at chez chic.  But sometimes it just pours happy.  Today happy is pouring all over the place.  I couldn't be more thankful.

Baby Madness. The. End.

Final baby project, baby booties.

Eventually I'll make booties for the wee baby girl and a hat for the wee baby boy, but this was the last of the major projects for the twins.  Now we move on to...what?  I still have the couture dress to finish.  We're having a major party for my parents' 40th wedding anniversary and I'm making stuff for that but won't post it on here because my mom reads and I want things to be a surprise.

There is also wedding stuff.  Yes wedding stuff.  We have everything thing planned with the who, what, when and where.  Since the logistics are done the fun can begin!  So get ready for the occasional post with successful or failed centerpiece attempts.  Bouquet attempts.  Veil attempts.  Cobbler attempts.  Ha!  Just making sure you were paying attention.  I don't cobble!  That's what elves are for.

"Who's This?"

There are many types of stupid phone calls.  Telemarketers.  Hang ups.  Heavy breathers.  But to me the dumbest are from people who, when you answer, they ask, "who's this?"

WHO DO YOU THINK THIS IS?  YOU CALLED ME, MORON!

The person doesn't ask if so-and-so is there.  It's just "who's this?"  LIKE I AM GOING TO TELL YOU.  Ugh.  I usually say, "you called me so you better know who 'this' is."  Then they usually hang up.  Sometimes they want to stay on the phone and talk longer, but no thanks.  Usually it's guys who try to pull that trick.  There are 900 numbers for that, jerk.

I'm posting this because I got such a call at 3:00 am this morning.  "Who's this?"  This is a person who would love to know who you are so the goon squad can pay a visit.

Oh, Snap!

I've been on cuteness overload lately.  Today though?  Today I reveal the piece de la resistance in the baby gift bonanza.

Kimono style PJs.

A-freaking-dorable.  I wish I could come up with patterns like this.  Same book again.  I had lunch with the mama-to-be the other day and gave her the gifts which, to my relief, she loved.  Usually I like to stick to getting people gifts from their registry but this time I couldn't resist the cuteness.

So now she will have little baby karate kids hanging around or going at each other. ( I wonder if twin speak development starts in the womb?)  I may have made the gear for them to turn rolling over into a contact sport.

Clothes are Better on a Tiny Scale

Case in point:

This hat from Amy Butler's Little Stitches for Little Ones.  If I saw an adult walking around wearing a hat with a butterfly attached to the front I'd think they were either in costume or a loony.  As I was telling my fiancee last night...Oh, did I say fiancee?  Am I throwing that word around?  Yes we got engaged!  Cue the applause!

But as I was telling him babies have it going on.  Too cute.

I'm posting, Brad!

It's good to check in with friends to make sure they're not dead.  Sometimes it backfires because then said friend (Brad) tells you to GET POSTING on your blog because you haven't.  So HERE IT IS, BRAD.  A new post to GET YOU OFF MY BACK.

Hey the monkey bag is finished!

To fix the mistake of putting the velcro in the wrong place I made a small bag in which to put small items such as socks.  I figure tiny person socks get lost much easier than big people socks.  Genius!

The pattern is from the book Amy Butler's Little Stitches for Little Ones.  I would honestly make every pattern in this book, it's that awesome.

Next up, tiny person PJs!  Everything is so much more awesome when made on a tiny scale.

Headless Monkey

Right, so one of my closest friends is pregnant with twins and her showering for the babies is the beginning of July.  Plenty of time to throw together some gifties, right?  Because I never get overambitious or anything.  Heh.

Project One:  The Monkey Laundry Bag

A cute project that lives up to its name.  A laundry bag with a monkey on it.  Sounds pretty straight forward.  HA!  Here's where I'm at so far:

A bag with a headless monkey.  Rather gruesome but I'm working on it.  That stupid monkey head is way heavy and there's no way it's going to stay on with velcro alone.  So that means getting more creative.  Also, see that velcro by the tail?  Yeah, that's a mistake that must be turned into a "hey I meant to do that" area.  THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DON'T READ THROUGH ALL THE DIRECTIONS.  Which happens to me frequently.  Oops.

I Came, I Testified, I Cried

My disability hearing is over.  After 10 months of going through the appeal process and waiting for the big day it is now over.  I have no idea one way or the other how the judge will decide, I just know that I'm glad it's over.  I'm also glad that I didn't cry...much.

Oh hey, I finished the bag...

and I will NEVER make another one like it again.

Well at least not from that pattern.  What a pain in the ass.  I have used it and it didn't fall apart, so that's a plus.

So onward!  Now I wait possibly four to five months for the judge's decision!  But in the meantime THE BABIES ARE COMING!  Not mine but a best friend who is having twins.  A boy and a girl.  Sewer's.  Dream.  Next time we'll talk monkeys.
